DUSK AT DEGAS CONCERT SERIES SCHEDULE
Wed. November 4, 6:00pm
PANORAMA JAZZ BAND
Because the members of the Panorama Jazz Band need no electricity to fire up their instruments, they express natural human energy and bring their party to any bar room, street corner, living room or back porch. The instruments in this band (clarinet, saxophone, trombone, accordion, banjo, tuba and drums) have been inspiring people to dance for generations and the group’s repertoire draws on the most exciting music from around the world: funky New Orleans Jazz, tropical rhythms of the Caribbean and exotic melodies of Eastern Europe. When they play feet stomp, hands clap and butts shake. Rowdy or gentle, sweet or hot – people move.
Wed. November 18, 6:00pm
THE NEW ORLEANS MOONSHINERS
With a lineup of trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, banjo, upright bass, and drums, the New Orleans Moonshiners are as comfortable crooning a second-line spiritual down the street as they are romancing a festival audience with classic Ellington arrangements. Playing songs from the likes of Louis Armstrong, WC Handy, Sidney Bechet, Django Reinhardt, as well as exciting originals, this tight-knit unit of twentysomethings plays packed festivals and dance halls, where they draw an enthusiastic following of swing dancers, music fans, and fellow musicians alike. Hailing from around the world and trained in music schools all over, the Moonshiners add a creative modern energy and their unique originals to traditional jazz, whipping up a never-before-heard gumbo of music that is flamboyantly entertaining and toe-tappingly good.
